CROSS COUNTRY SKIING IN PRINCE ALBERT NATIONAL PARK

Townsite

The Red Deer Trail provides a means for Waskesiu skiiers to walk out their door to 25 km of ski trails. The skiing portion of the trail has two sections that link Wapiti, Fisher and Beaver Glen ski trails. The majority of the Red Deer Trail travels through the Community Fuel Break which offers excellent wildlife viewning opportunities. Since the route follows the edge of the fuel break,there are no road crossings at which it is recommended skiers walk across.

A Wapiti
A perennial favourite, this short course trail follows the golf course. Watch for chilly conitions on windy days.

B Fisher
This self-guiding trail is grat for a family outing; scenic, close to Waskesiu and relatively flat. The trail is best skied clockwise, through mixed woods, aspen stands and black spruce muskeg.

C Beaver Glen
A short lit ski around the portable cabin area or triple your strides by circling Beaver Glen Campground.

D Red Deer South
The southern portion links Wapiti with Fisher. The route, although gently rolling in many sections, has a few significant hulls with challenging corners. The west end of the loop brgins on the Wapiti while the east end is located on the Fisher Trail, near the trail head.

E Red Deer Central
The central portion links the the Beaver Glen , Fisher and Wapiti trails. The route is flat to gently rollowing.
