FIRST
PHASE OF THE BTK AERIAL SPRAY PROGRAM SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED
The application began at about 5:30 a.m. and was completed in about 40 minutes. |
| May 23, 2003 | Parks Canada will be spraying the microbial pest control product, Foray 48B, within the community of Waskesiu, to protect over 40,000 white spruce trees from a severe outbreak of spruce budworm. Foray 48B will be applied twice (2-5 days apart) from a fixed-wing aircraft, flown over the community of Waskesiu, in the early morning (5:00 a.m to 7:00 a.m.). |

FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN FOR SPRAY PROGRAM BEGINS The
Parks Canada approval for BtK aerial spraying is in place.
The contracts for the spraying program and the monitoring
activities have been signed. The required regulatory permits
have been obtained. The spraying will occur when the larvae
have developed - likely towards the beginning of June. |
