CPS is a broad-based coalition of visitors, campers, local and area government, Waskesiu seasonal residents, business owners, and other national park supporters committed to the balanced stewardship of Prince Albert National Park's beauty, character and diverse wildlife, while protecting traditional recreation activities and heritage so that the Park remains a place for the continued enjoyment, appreciation and benefit of all people.

The mission statement is the expression of those people and organizations CPS represents who as supporters of the Park, felt the need to create an organization that would formally address unwelcome plans, policies, decisions, and changes being implemented by PANP administration. The dual role of balanced stewardship while protecting traditional recreation activities and heritage gives CPS a mandate to accept greater responsibility for helping to ensure that the Park remains a place for the continued enjoyment, appreciation and benefit of all people. To ensure stakeholder participation in decisions affecting P.A.N.P., CPS is committed to:

• conducting and supporting quality scientific research;
• providing forums, at times in conjunction with P.A.N.P. administration, for members to share insights, have input into, and gain an improved understanding of Park issues;
• promoting continued responsible recreational and heritage activities in P.A.N.P. that respect preservation and stewardship, and
• working in a cooperative, open, and honest communicative manner with Park officials, politicians, and visitors in seeking balanced solutions to PANP issues and Parks Canada management of these issues.

Since its initial incorporation in 2002 as Concerned Park Supporter - PANP Inc., and as the Coalition of Park Supporters (AGM August 2004) CPS has facilitated a visibly higher level of public accountability among PANP management and staff for the way the Park is being managed and operated. Information sharing, collaboration, and opportunities for involvement in decision-making processes between Parks Canada Agency personnel and CPS directors and members have improved since CPS began timely focusing its attention and energies on various issues.
