Council Chair Message

Your elected community council has been very busy during the past year working on new initiatives and striving to maintain our utility costs at an affordable level. Probably the new website (www.waskesiu.org) has had the greatest impact on Waskesiu in terms of sharing timely information with seasonal residents and the promotion of activities and services. Arbour Day, as part of the Vegetation Management Plan has been a big hit with children and adults, resulting in 225 trees planted in the town site in the last 2 years on the Labour Day weekend.

Council has been diligently exploring the potential of a local municipal government for Waskesiu which is covered in greater detail in the newsletter. And finally, there is a new entity called the Waskesiu Foundation which was incorporated to provide charitable receipts for donations related to cultural, recreational and environmental services and facilities.
These new initiatives are the result of committees of council, numerous community volunteers and the excellent working relationship we enjoy with Parks management and staff.
