How it all began

2006 will be the 25rd annual Frank Dunn Toyota Triathlon, which takes place in one of Saskatchewan’s most scenic venues, the Prince Albert National Park. The Frank Dunn Toyota Triathlon is Saskatchewan’s longest Running Triathlon. The Frank Dunn has been an Ironman Canada qualifier in the past and hopes to soon be the host of the Saskatchewan Provincial Long Course Championship. The race consists of: 1.5 km swim, 62 km bike and 13 km run.

The history of the event began in 1981 with 6 friends around a campfire. With visions of Ironman Hawaii and money on the table The Frank Dunn Toyota Triathlon was born. The race has grown from thirteen participants in the first year to over 150 individuals and 25 teams in the 2005 Triathlon. The original course was from Waskesiu all the way to the city of Prince Albert. This course was used for 6 years till 1987, when the course was moved to the present day course that takes place inside the National Park.

The success of this great event has been due to the enormous efforts of many volunteers who continue to make this event better each year. Thanks to our many sponsors and long time race director, Mark Nagy, this Triathlon will continue the Frank Dunn Toyota Triathlon tradition.
