Mike Caswell
Title: Asset
Management Advisor for Saskatchewan
Interests: My
interests include sports of any sort as I'm a "Jack
of all trades but master of none" those who have seen
me play darts know what I mean. I like to read historic
novels and my main hobby is "fix it" around the
house and garden. Another special activity is keeping up
with my family and their activities.
Residence: I live
in Saskatoon but was born and raised on a mixed farm near
Drumheller, Alberta.
Family: I have been taking
my family (Celia, Angela, Greg and Joy-Anne) to Waskesiu
on an annual basis for our one week summer holiday ever
since 1981. Celia and I have been married for over 26 years
and are now empty nesters with young adults who are a Teacher
(Angela), Actor/Singer (Greg), and University Student in
Business(Joy-Anne)
Favourite things about Waskesiu:
Peyton Beech and the Narrows are our favourite places to
settle in Waskesiu. But Olaf's waffle cones and the "old'
theatre are highlights in the kids memory.
First impressions of Waskesiu:
My wife Celia has been a visitor to Waskesiu ever since
early school years and Waskesiu will always be a favourite
for her clan.
Parks Canada employment: I
started with Parks Canada and PANP in January, 2003.
Background: Graduated
from the U of S in 1978 with a Bachelor's Degree Bioresource
/ Agricultural
Engineering and have worked in the Oilfield and Irrigation
Districts in Alberta before returning to Saskatchewan as
an Engineer for the City of Moose Jaw (17 years), then Public
Works Manager for the City of Brandon, Engineering Consultant
with Associated Engineering, and then Engineer for Prince
Albert Grand Council. I've been very fortunate in the Engineering
field to be involved in a variety of projects over the 20
plus years with a value of over $500 million. The type and
variety of project has been very wide range from geothermal
wells, spa utilities, old building renovations and new building
construction, water and wastewater, roads and bridges, irrigation
and oil/gas wells. Now with Parks Canada I enjoy another
stage of various and interesting projects and maintaining
infrastructure assets
with practical solutions and limited resources.
Priorities In PANP:
My goals with PANP is "To serve the visitors
of PANP at the best level I can" and "Enjoy the
challenge of the projects I'm involved with".
