Update on Directors

Early in the fall of 2002 and throughout the winter of 2003 a number of individuals have resigned their positions on the executive Committee and the Directors of the Association.

Following provisions within the bylaws of the corporation the remaining directors appointed individuals to fill vacancies that have been created.

In-January Manley McLachlan was elected as the Interim President of the Association by a vote of the remaining directors.

Cheryl Aramenko, John Day and Kristy Amstead were appointed as directors.

All positions that have been vacated will be open for nomination and will be filled by a vote of the membership at the Annual General Meeting in June 28 2003.

PANP update:

You will haveall received your spring newsletter from the. PANP providing you with the camping season and other information.

WCOA was approached by PANP on the matter of the duration of the water supply to the cabin area. WCOA endorses the approach that PANP has taken given that the system suffered some significant damage last fall with an early cold snap. . The water will be available throughout the term of the camping season however PANP will shut the system down as required to avoid any damage from freezing. This may mean that water may not be, available to the Cabin area.for the full term of the camping season.

License of Occupation

PANP has indicated a desire to. resume discussions on the establishment of a license of occupation, which would replace our existing camping permit. The directors agree with Parks Canada's desire to delay discussions until after the election of directors at the AGM.

In this regard we are actively recruiting candidates for directors who have experience in these types of negotiation, We do have a broad range of expertise within the cabin area and we would like to draw on those who have experience in lease negotiations, including those with legal and/or accounting backgrounds. Individuals who have had the experience of dealing with Parks Canada in the past are also being recruited for their knowledge of previous positions that the Park has taken on this matter.

Please contact any one of the current directors with your interest to get involved with the Association in this mater.

Spruce Budworm

Parks Canada has approved the Waskesiu Community Council application to conduct a spray program in Waskesiu this spring and subsequent springs as required. We have attached a letter from the Finance Committee of the WCC, which has undertaken. a fund raising campaign to cover the community's twothirds share of the spray costs.

The letter explains the whole situation. The expected three-year cost of this program is only $150.00 per. residence. Your donation will be tax deductible. Please use the form accompanying the Finance committee letter. We would anticipate -having the campaign completed by June 30. 2003.

Membership in the Waskesiu Cabin Owners Association

We would ask you to renew your membership in the Cabin Owners Association this spring. Recent events. have demonstrated the need.for a strong vital organization that will look after your interests as a Cabin Owner. The. investment that people have recently.made in the upgrading of their cabins, the need to upgrade the facilities within the cabin area, and of the negotiation of a license of occupation that will provide you with some long-term security of residence at Waskesiu are ample reasons to support the Cabin Owners Association.
