Location :   Hawood Inn Board Room

Present : D. Ravis (chair), B. Matheson, A. Ross, Nancy Archer, H. Langlois

1. Call to Order: 9:10 a.m.

2. By-election Results: Chris Arnstead, Returning Officer, reported that 48   electors had voted in the Year-round residents' by-election.   Nancy Wood Archer was the successful candidate having garnered 46 votes.

The returning officer identified some ambiguities in the rules governing voter eligibility and suggested that Council should addresss them.

Chair Ravis welcomed Archer to her first Council meeting.

3. Waskesiu Drive and Montreal Drive Corner: Ravis reported that he had received concerns about the very poor state of the corner adjacent to the new Sandbox building.   It was agreed that Ross would pursue the matter with the Superintendent to determine if some temporary measures could be undertaken to alleviate some of the concerns.

4. Public Meetings and Committee of the Whole:   It was agreed that future agendas would clearly distinguish items to be discussed in private and those to be part of the public agenda.

5. Municipal Governance: Matheson/Ross: That Ravis and Langlois be authorized to explore the future governance of Waskesiu with provincial government officials and report back to Council.

                                                                                                          Carried unanimously

6.   Waskesiu Foundation Inc.: Langlois/Archer: That Ravis be appointed as the Council representative to vote the Waskesiu Community Association share at the Waskesiu Foundation Inc.

It was understood that the representative would seek the guidance of the Council on policy issues discussed at the Foundation Board and, also, on the membership of the Board.

Council identified several residents who might be approached to serve on the Foundation Board.   They will be approached before the next Council meeting.

7. Next Meetings:   The schedule for the fall Council meetings is: September 17, October 15, November 19, and December 17.   The September meeting will be held in Waskesiu; locations for the other meetings to be determined then.
